“Why does my back hurt when I do my sit-ups?”
“Why can’t I do squats without my knee hurting?”
“I like my exercise video/class, but there are just things I can’t do or are too hard, so I don’t do it.”
Do any of these statements sound familiar to you? If so, let me introduce myself.
My name is Allen. I’ve heard these comments many times while working as a physical therapist over the past 11 years. I’ve seen many patients get injured doing something they thought was keeping them healthy, namely exercising.
While working in outpatient rehabilitative services, I treated patients with the same story: getting injured while exercising. They were trying to push themselves with activities their bodies were not ready to perform. I began to notice a pattern to these injuries: they could have been prevented with proper instruction in exercise technique.
This is what I would like to empower you with as your coach. Let me teach you how to modify an exercise and/or instruct you on proper form and technique as you journey through your 90 day fit challenge, or try out the latest High Intensity Interval Training fitness class.
My goal as your coach is not to make you look like Arnold Schwarzeneggar (pre-governor) or as slim as the next magazine cover model, but to give your body the chance to move as efficiently as possible, reduce injury, and maximize your exercise potential.
With so many coaches that are ready to lead you to the promised land of health and fitness, it is important to choose one you feel comfortable with and one who suits your needs the most. I encourage you to find someone who can guide you on your journey to a healthier lifestyle, not just get immediate results.
A good coach will keep you accountable and encourage you to keep reaching your fitness goals. I look forward to meeting you, hearing your fitness goals, and figuring out together if I am the right coach for you.
